Texaco Bursary award

St. James’ Gaels GAA Club, Dublin 12, have been awarded with a Texaco Sportstars Bursary of €5,000 to develop their Girls Gaelic Football section. St. James’ Gaels are deeply honoured to have been chosen as 1 of the 25 clubs awarded out of 422 applications from sports clubs throughout the 32 counties of Ireland. The awards were presented at an official ceremony held by Chevron (Ireland) Ltd on Wednesday 29th October 2008 at the Davenport Hotel in Dublin.

The Club Committee expressed its sincere appreciation to Cheryl Dunne for her work in securing this bursary, and to Texaco for awarding it. St. James’ Gaels successfully launched their first Ladies’ Adult team 3 years ago, and have followed this by launching an Under 12s girls’ team to play in the league in 2008. Club officials believe that the Texaco Sportstars Bursary will allow St. James’ Gaels to develop girls’ Gaelic football for Crumlin, Drimnagh and Walkinstown in the same way in which the club has developed boys’ football over the years. The funds will be used to purchase much-needed equipment, outfit our teams appropriately and meet the necessary expenses involved in fielding teams. This award is a great boost to everyone who volunteers their time to make it all happen!
