John Humphrey Memorial Cup Generates €600 for Crumlin Children's Hospital

posted 3 Jun 2011, 00:48 by St. James Gaels
A feature of the annual John Humphrey memorial cup hosted by St James Gaels is that funds are raised for our Lady's Hospital for Sick Children in Crumlin.

Our picture shows Gerard Cully, Community Fundraising Manager, from the Hospital accepting a cheque for €600 from Noel Thompson, Chairman of St James Gaels in the Iveagh Grounds earlier this week.

The Humphrey Cup is an annual Under 10 football competition held in memory of young John Humphrey, a young St James Gaels player, who died tragically some years ago. Whitehall Colmcilles are the current holders.

St James Gaels currently fields two adult Gaelic football teams, a Ladies team and 9 juvenile boys and girls teams. In addition, for 5 to 8 year olds, we run our Gaels All-Stars Academy in the grounds of Drimnagh Castle school which introduces boys and girls to Gaelic football in a friendly and fun atmosphere.
