St. James Gaels 1-10 St Maurs 0-6
The winners scored all but one point of their total in that opening half with a direct style of football that Maurs struggled to deal with.
Central to their game plan was their deadly inside duo of Darragh Kenny and Dean Gibbons, who between them accounted for all of Gael's scores.
The positioning of Sean Wilton in front of the full back line proved a very effective move from the Gaels manager Lar Quinn. Wilton intercepted endless amounts of ball and used it intelligently, setting up attack after attack.
It was Kenny who emerged as the top scorer bagging the decisive goal early in the first half coupled with some excellent free-taking keeping Gaels in front. Kenny ended up with a total of 1-7 (0-6 from dead balls)
Maurs threw everything at the Gaels defence in the second half but the goal their challenge so desperately required never materialised with excellent defending by Paddy O'Neill, Tom King, Eugene Donnelly and Ross Mulvany
Man of the match was Sean Wilton
