Summer Camps

This year you will be glad to know that we are organising two summer camps. The first will take place from the 4th to the 8th of July with the second happening from the 22nd to the 26th of Aug. Each camp will be held in the Iveagh Grounds. You can either participate in one or both camps. A discount for the second camp will be available to those who want to attend both camps. For more details and booking forms please contact Aaron Byrne @ 086 8754961 or your team mentor.

Thursday Night Football – July

Last year’s Thursday night summer football was a great success and we plan to run these events again this year. There will be four nights of football, 7th, 14th, 21st and 28th of July. Games will be provided for both boys and girls aged 10 to 14 years. Matches throw in at 7.30pm each night, at Drimnagh Castle Secondary School. Don’t miss out and keep fit through the summer break.

Gaelic4Mothers

This is a new craze amongst the Gaelic Football world and we have had a number of interested mothers asking if St James Gaels are willing to form a mother’s team. Please contact Cheryl @ 087 1257145 if you would like to find out more.

La na Club - Club Day

With all that was happening, we did not have our club day yet. We are planning a trip to Croke Park to watch Dublin play, depending on their success in the coming game against Kildare. We will keep you posted.

Finance

The cost of running the club activities is increasing each year. This is partially as a consequence of our success in the increasing numbers of people playing. We now have juvenile boys and girls teams, minor boys, adult ladies and mens teams. Expenses include team registration, insurance, equipment, clothing etc. All our mentors contribute their time free of charge. We have two sources of income, membership fees and fund raising activities. At the moment we have not covered our costs for 2011.

Sponsored Hop Solo

We would like to thank all those who participated and raised much needed funds at the sponsored Hop Solo in February of this year.
It was a wonderful event and we were extremely lucky with the mild weather on the day. The best part was that you raised over €2,500 for St James Gaels club. This has been a valuable contribution to the running costs of the club for 2011.

Quiz Night

We are having a Quiz night in the Iveagh Grounds on Wednesday 29th June at 9.00pm. Contribution is €10 per person or €40 per team of 4. Prizes will be awarded to the winning teams. This is a good opportunity to meet other parents on a fun night and raise much needed funds.

Bag Packing
We have been given the opportunity by Dunne Stores in the Ashleaf Shopping Centre to raise funds by bag packing on Sat. 23rd of July. We will organise times for each team to participate when we get closer to the date.

Thanks

An apology for all the talk about finance but it is necessary, however on behalf of the committee and mentors please accept our thanks to all of you who help out at matches, provide lifts and support our fundraising. Without your help this club would not function.
