2009 Competition

A feature of the annual John Humphrey Memorial Cup hosted by St James Gaels is that funds are raised for our Lady's Hospital for Sick Children in Crumlin.

Our picture shows Gerard Cully from the Hospital accepting a cheque for €1,000 from Paul Flanagan of St James Gaels in the Iveagh Grounds earlier this week.

The Humphrey Cup is an annual Under 10 football competition held in memory of young John Humphrey, a young St James Gaels player, who died tragically some years ago. Thomas Davis are the current holders.

St James Gaels currently fields two adult Gaelic football teams, a Ladies team and juvenile teams at Under 9, 10, 12, 14, 16 and Minor levels.

In addition, for 5 to 8 year olds, we run our Gaels All-Stars Academy in the grounds of Drimnagh Castle school which introduces boys and girls to Gaelic football in a friendly and fun atmosphere.

We also have a Girls only training session – St James Gals – to help in ensuring that girls participate more fully and have recently launched an Under 12 team for girls.
