Club Notes 13th February

Well done to our U8, U9, U16 and adult 1st team who all had very good wins this weekend. A particular mention to our new Under 8 team who beat Wanderers in their first ever match. Thanks also to the Morgan family and Morgan Dental, Kilkeel, Co. Down for their generous sponsorship of our new 2nd team jerseys.

Club AGM takes place on 22nd Feb in Iveagh Grounds, all members are asked to attend.

Juvenile Recruitment Day on Sat 25th Feb in the Iveagh Grounds. All of our younger teams will be playing or training in the Iveagh Grounds that morning where we will be accepting new registrations and this year's membership payments.

Table Quiz in Iveagh Grounds on 9th March - details to follow.

Congratulations to the St. Damians (St. James Gaels and Robert Emmets) minor team who won the 2011 League Final on Sunday in a thrilling match vs Na Piarsigh. The lads pulled through by 2 points despite an onslaught by the opposition in the last few minutes.

Well done also to our U15 and U16 teams who won their opening league games this weekend.

Hard luck to Ashley Lenihan and the Dublin VS team who were narrowly beaten in Leinster final on Saturday.

The club would like to extend our sympathies to the Carr family and the members of Round Tower GAA club on the untimely passing of Ciaran.

You will be helping St. James Gaels, the Jack and Jill Foundation and the environment in one go as all phones donated are recycled. The proceeds go to Jack and Jill who will donate a set of jersies to us once enough phones have been collected.

Congratulations to Lucan Sarsfields who won the recent U10 Humphrey Cup in the Iveagh Grounds. They defeated Whitehall Colmcilles in an exciting finale to 2 days of excellent football from nine teams who gave their all.

Our Annual Awards Night last Thursday was a massive success and a great night was had by all. Many thanks to Michael Darragh McAuley, Dennis Bastik and Kevin McMenamin who handled the hordes of awe-struck boys and love-struck girls with great poise, charm and good humour. You are all welcome at any time to St. James Gaels.

Congratulations to Donal Condron and Cheryl Dunne who were both honoured for their exceptional work for St. James Gaels over the years through the awarding of the "Donal Condron Club Person of the Year" award to Cheryl

Next up is the Humphrey Cup where the cream of Dublin's Under 10 talent compete in memory of John Humphrey, a young St. James Gaels player, who died tragically some years ago. The competition takes place in the Iveagh Grounds on 27th and 28th December. Full details can be found at www.stjamesgaels.com

Our annual Awards Night takes place this Thursday 15th December at 7PM in Iveagh Grounds. Get your photo taken with the Sam Maguire and Dubs players on the night while celebrating all our achievements this year .

Thanks to the Walk with You organisation for all their help at our Juvenile Christmas Party on Saturday. A fantastic day was had by all

Congratulations to Ashley Lenihan who was the vice-Captain of the Dublin Vocational Schools team in their victory over Kildare last week. Congrats also to Ladies player Cliona Devitt who won an All-Ireland Junior Camogie medal with her camogie club Inagh recently.
