U16s

The U16s are managed by Robbie O'Byrne and Aaron Byrne. In a fantastic performance, the lads won the U16 shield earlier this year. See picture and report below

Power, pace and passion were the order of the day in the Iveagh Grounds in Crumlin on Saturday (June 26) when St James Gaels, led by mentors Aaron Byrne and Robbie O Byrne, defeated St Sylvester’s to capture the under-16 Shield on a sunny Saturday afternoon.

Led by captain Ian Kelly, and inspired by a majestic midfield display by Alan Swann, Gaels simply had too much for the team from Malahide and ran out deserved winners on a score line of 6-9 to 0-4.

Gaels did not have it all their own way but a defence marshalled by full back Conor Dunne made sure that Sylvesters, under the management of Pat Brennan and Des O Toole, saw little opportunity to trouble the umpires.

Many of the victorious Gaels players made the debut for the Club at the age of six in their nursery – Gaels All Stars Academy and the manner of their win showed that their long term investment in youth development is certainly paying dividends.
